The Virtual World Tour came about when showing my young son Google Earth. He enjoys seeing new places, and hearing how different people live. It got me to thinking about what a valuable thing Google Earth is - allowing us a view in to places we might otherwise never see. So I decided to embark on the Virtual World Tour - travelling the world and blogging about it here on the site, all through Google Earth.
And whilst doing this, raising money for fifteen great charities (see to the right). For each entry in our Travel Directory, £20 is donated to the fundraising appeal, and the money raised is split between the fifteen charities. Also, 90% of the money made in our Amazon store is donated to the fund.
We begin our travels in Cramlington, Northumberland and will travel through England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland before heading into Europe, Africa, Asia, Australasia, Antarctica, South America, North America, and back to England.
The majority of the photos on the site are from Google Earth, and where other photos have been used, credit has been given. If you would like to suggest a place to visit and/or offer photos to the site, please use the 'Contact Us' link to get in touch.
